The space is contained in an older house being repurposed as a church office. The pastor’s study was tired and outdated with no design scheme and mismatched and worn-out furniture. There was some budget for the redesign, but the design team had to be efficient and creative to design the space on minimal dollars.

The office is full of books, with a book collection that continues to grow. The client also has church, sports, and family memorabilia from several decades of ministry that had to be curated to include those pieces most significant to him.

The chosen paint color is masculine and cozy and perfect for the library-like feel, and it is also reminiscent of the client’s favorite college sports team. While the bookshelves are retained from the original design, the executive desk and credenza are antiques originally made in Indiana and sourced from a local antique store. The accessories and wall art chosen represent the client’s life and contribute to the cozy and personal space.

The client now loves being in this space. It is warm, welcoming to guests and parishioners, and conducive to study and creativity.
